About Us

Established 1993 in the South West The Society was formed to promote our many; oft overlooked, local links to the Queen’s Rangers and its energetic commander John Graves Simcoe.

It is our claim that few regiments or officers have influenced more the development of the British army. Many modern concepts such as camouflage, rapid deployment, partisan warfare, rifle-armed marksmen and combined operations found early expression in this formation and the creative spirit of it’s commanding officer, during the late 18th century.

Our society has been commissioned to stage events and provide lecturers for the National Army Museum, English Heritage, Powderham Castle, Exeter City Council and the National Trust amongst others. We have provided film footage to BBC, The History Channel & various European TV productions.

Our research and advice has assisted the Ray Mear’s Survival Series, several regimental museums, renowned international publishers and archaeological excavations in the United States.
